What Facebook Video & Audio Downloader does
Facebook serves most videos in two versions, a standard-definition file and a high-definition one, and reels as short vertical clips. Which versions exist depends on how the clip was uploaded. Posts are also governed by their audience setting: a video shared with Friends is invisible to anyone outside that circle, including any downloader.
Reaching those files needs a server. Facebook blocks other websites from reading its media from inside your browser, and the file addresses are signed and expire within hours. Until that engine is running, this page explains what the tool will do and points to the tools that already work.
When to use it
- Recovering a clip you posted
- If your phone's copy is gone, a public video from your own Page or profile is often the only remaining copy of a family event or product demo.
- Archiving a business Page
- Small businesses moving to another platform need their published promo videos and reels back in a portable MP4 format.
- Audio from a live stream you hosted
- A recorded talk or sermon you streamed as a public live video can become a podcast episode once its audio track is saved as MP3.
Facebook Video & Audio Downloader settings explained
- HD or SD (planned)
- Facebook usually stores a 720p or 1080p HD file alongside a lighter SD one. You will be able to pick either, since SD is often good enough for phones and much smaller.
- MP3 audio (planned)
- Just the sound, saved as MP3, which suits talks, music performances and live streams where the picture adds little.
- Reels and watch links (planned)
- facebook.com/watch, /reel/, /videos/ and fb.watch short links for posts whose audience is set to Public.
Limits and what to expect
- The downloader is not switched on yet, so this page cannot save a Facebook video today.
- Only posts set to Public will ever be supported; Friends-only videos, groups and Stories are out of reach.
- Only save videos you created or have the owner's permission to download.
Troubleshooting
- I want the sound from a clip that's already on my phone
- Extract Audio from Video already works. Load the MP4 from your device and save an MP3 or WAV of its soundtrack, processed entirely in your browser.
- My saved video is too large to send
- Run it through the Video Compressor, which typically cuts phone footage by half or more while keeping it watchable, without uploading the file anywhere.
- I need a short looping clip for a chat
- Video to GIF turns a few seconds of a video file into an animated GIF, with control over frame rate and width.
Your files and your privacy
This page processes nothing yet. Once live, the engine will receive only the Facebook link you submit, never your Facebook login, and will not retain the downloaded media. Our other tools keep working entirely on your own device.

FAQ
When will the Facebook downloader launch?
There is no date yet. It depends on a server-side engine that is not running, and we would rather list it honestly as coming soon than ship something unreliable.
Will it download private or Friends-only videos?
No. Only videos whose audience is set to Public will be supported. Anything restricted to friends, groups or Stories stays private, as it should.
Is downloading Facebook videos allowed?
Meta's terms protect the rights of whoever posted the video. Saving your own uploads is fine; for anyone else's, ask the owner first and never republish their work as your own.
Will I need to log in to Facebook?
No, and you should never give your Facebook password to any downloader site. Public videos do not require a login.
What can I do with video files today?
Compress, convert, trim, resize, mute or turn clips into GIFs with our in-browser video tools, or save a video's soundtrack with Extract Audio from Video.
