What Random Number Generator does
Most random number tools on the web use Math.random, a fast generator that is fine for games but predictable in principle and slightly biased when stretched over large ranges. For draws where fairness matters — a prize giveaway, a raffle, picking a sample — that is not good enough.
This generator uses crypto.getRandomValues, the same cryptographically secure source browsers use for encryption keys. Each number is chosen with rejection sampling, so every value in the range is exactly as likely as every other, and the No repeats option draws without replacement, like pulling numbered balls from a bag.
When to use it
- Giveaways and raffles
- Number the entries, set the range to match, and draw the winners with No repeats on so nobody can win twice. Record your screen if you need to show the draw was fair.
- Classroom and team picks
- Choose who presents first, assign groups or pick a question number without anyone suspecting favouritism.
- Samples and test data
- Pick 50 random row numbers from a spreadsheet of 2,000 for a spot check, or generate test values across a range for a form or a program.
Random Number Generator settings explained
- Minimum and Maximum
- Both ends are included, so 1 to 6 behaves like a die. Negative numbers work, and the range can span up to about 4.29 billion values.
- How many numbers
- From 1 to 1,000 per draw. A single number is shown large; several are listed and can be copied together.
- No repeats
- Every number in the result is different. The count cannot exceed the size of the range — you cannot draw 11 different numbers from 1 to 10.
- Sort results
- Lists the numbers from lowest to highest, which is handy for lottery-style picks and sampling row numbers.
Limits and what to expect
- Whole numbers only; decimal random values are not supported.
- At most 1,000 numbers per draw and a range of up to 4,294,967,296 values.
- Results are not recorded anywhere, so keep a screenshot or copy if you need proof of a draw.
Troubleshooting
- It says only a few different numbers exist
- With No repeats on, you asked for more numbers than the range holds. Widen the range, lower the count, or turn No repeats off.
- The same number came up twice in a row
- With No repeats off, that is what genuine randomness looks like — each draw is independent. Turn No repeats on when duplicates are not allowed.
- It rejects my numbers
- Use whole numbers, make sure the minimum is not larger than the maximum, and keep the range within about 4.29 billion values.

Numbers are generated in your browser from its own secure random source. Nothing is sent to our servers, so nobody — including us — can see or influence a draw.

FAQ
Is this random number generator truly random?
It uses the browser's cryptographically secure generator, which is seeded from hardware and system entropy and is unpredictable in practice. It is the same source used to create encryption keys.
Are the minimum and maximum included?
Yes. A range of 1 to 10 can produce both 1 and 10, and every value in between is equally likely.
Can I pick lottery numbers with it?
Yes. For a 6 from 49 game, set 1 to 49, ask for 6 numbers, and tick No repeats and Sort results. Every combination is equally likely, as in the real draw.
Is it fair enough for a giveaway?
Yes. Every number has exactly the same chance. For transparency, share the range and the rules before the draw and record it as it happens.
Can I generate negative numbers?
Yes. Set a negative minimum, for example −50 to 50.
